Song Xinhua, expert on Genetics and Breeding of Silkworm, was born in Feb. 1965 in Dali, Shaanxi province. In 1987, he was graduated from Southwest University with a bachelor's degree. In 1996, he graduated from Zhejiang University（Zhejiang Agricultural University）and was honored the master degree, and is a PhD candidate. From January 2004 to December 2005, he took a temporary post of Deputy County Mayor of the People's Government of Langao County, Ankang City. He is currently an associate professor and master tutor at Northwest A&F University. He is also the leader of the silkworm breeding group in the Northern Serucultural Research and Cooperation Area, the vice chairman of the Agricultural Branch of the Shaanxi Atomic Energy Society, and a member of the Shaanxi Sericulture Society. In 1998, he was selected into the "Three-Five Talents Program" of Shaanxi Province.

He successively participated in the national "Eighth Five-Year Plan" and "Ninth Five-Year Plan" research projects, and managed and completed the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" national research project sub-projects, provincial research projects and provincial Natural Science Foundation projects. The new silkworm hybrid Shaancan 3, that he participated in the breeding, won the first prize of Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the fourth prize of National Invention, and Shaancan 4 won the third prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. The new silkworm hybrid Shaancan 6 that he managed the selection and breeding has passed the provincial examination and approval. He has successively published more than 30 papers in journals such as "Scientia Agricultura Sinica", " Science of Sericulture ", " Acta Agriculturae Boreali-occidentalis Sinica " .
