Curriculum Vitae of Professor Ren Zhanjun, Northwest A&F University


1.Basic information

Ren Zhanjun, Ph.D., Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Northwest A&F University; Department Chair and Branch Secretary of Animal Production and Husbandry Engineering at the College of Animal Science and Technology; Chief Expert of the Team for SpecialEconomicAnimalBreeding; Director of the Qinling Wildlife Biology Research Center at the university. He is mainly engaged in teaching, research, and promotion of special economicanimal science. He has conducted studies, investigations, and exchanges in seven countries including the United States, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Singapore, and Australia.

2. Research Direction

Rabbit, deer, musk deer and other economic animal breeding and healthful aquaculture.

3. Offering Courses

Teaching undergraduate courses such as Economic Animal Production Science, Animal Behavior and Welfare,Zoology of Ornamental Animals, and Practical Training in EconomicAnimal Production Science;

Teaching graduate courses such as Special Animal Resources and Breeding Technology and Advances in Special Economic Animal Research.

There have been 50 graduate students who have completed their studies, with 7 doctoral students and 15 master's students currently enrolled.

4. Academic Achievements

(1) Projects: Led 1 National Natural Science Foundation project, 2 key projects of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, 3 projects of the State Forestry Administration, the construction project of the Shaanxi Province Rabbit Industry Technology System, 3 agricultural research projects of Shaanxi Province, 3 agricultural innovation-driven projects of the province, 1 agricultural promotion project of the province, 3 scientific research projects of Xi'an City, 1 project for improving the promotion capacity of the Yangling Agricultural High-tech Demonstration Zone, 1 key research and development project for industry, academia, and research collaboration, and 5 latitudinal projects. Also, primarily participated in 2 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 3 international cooperation projects, 1 key project of the Ministry of Agriculture, 1 key project of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and 1 project of the State Forestry Bureau.

(2) Publications: Published 154 papers in Acta Veterinaria et Zootechnica Sinica, Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, Chinese Journal of Veterinary Science, Food Science, Biodiversity Science, Scientia Agricultura Sinica, Journal of Northwest A&F University (Natural Science Edition), Asian-Aust.J.anim, Journal of Genetics, PLOS ONE and other journals. 15 papers have been included in SCI.

Edited 8 books includingModern Rabbit Rearing and Product Processing,Key Technologies for Modern Deer Rearing and Product Processing,Artificial Musk Deer Rearing and Musk Extraction Technology,Efficient Feeding and Disease Monitoring of Special Animals, Comprehensive Guide to Fur and Medicinal Animal Farming, and Practical EconomicAnimal Production. Contributed to books such as Animal Genetic Resources,China Rabbit Science,SHAANXI TEZHONG YANGZHI, and Research on Chinese Livestock Genetic Resources.Published national-level planned textbooks Special Economic Animal Production Science(1st and 2nd editions) and EconomicAnimal Production Science (3 volumes).

(3) Patents: Granted 3 national invention patents.

①"Genetic Resources Research of Livestock and Poultry in Five Northwestern Provinces" won the 2nd Prize of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2011 (ranked first);

②"Research and Industrialization Demonstration of Key Technologies for the Introduction and Breeding of African Ostriches" won the 2nd Prize of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2006 (ranked second);

③"Research on Genetic Resources of Several Special Animal Populations" won the 2nd Prize of Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2006 (ranked third);

④"Research on Chinese Livestock Genetic Resources" won the 3rd Prize of the Ministry of Agriculture Science and Technology Progress Award in 1998 (ranked seventh);

⑤"Research and Industrialization of Key Technologies for the Introduction, Breeding, and High-Quality Efficient Production of Ira Meat Rabbits" won the 2nd Prize of Weinan City Science and Technology Progress Award in Shaanxi Province in 2016 (ranked second).
